Masterhitch Piling Rig Transport Frame Bespoke Project
Our latest bespoke project was for a repeat customer, Berryrange. We have recently repaired a transport frame for a piling rig. Today, we dive into the repairing process of the transport frame as well as other bespoke services we have completed.
What is a Piling Rig?
A piling rig is a specialised construction machine used for driving or drilling piles into the ground. Piles are long, cylindrical structural elements made of concrete, steel, or timber that are driven or drilled deep into the soil to provide support and stability for various types of structures. A piling rig is equipped with powerful hydraulic systems, a robust structure, and various attachments that allow it to perform different piling techniques. These rigs can drive piles into the ground by using an impact hammer or by applying hydraulic pressure, or they can drill holes and insert piles through a drilling process. Piling rigs are essential in construction projects where strong foundations are required, such as building structures on unstable or soft soil, constructing bridges, or supporting tall buildings.

What is a Transport Frame?
A transport frame, also known as a shipping frame or transportation frame, is a specialised structure designed to securely hold and protect goods during transportation and handling. It is typically made of durable materials such as steel or aluminium and is specifically engineered to withstand the rigours of various transportation modes, including road, rail, sea, and air. Transport frames are commonly used for transporting delicate or valuable items, equipment, machinery, or industrial components that require extra care and protection.

The Process of Repairing the Transport Frame:
When it comes to repairing a transport frame, the team follows a meticulous process to restore its functionality and appearance. The first step in the repair process is removing any rust or corrosion that may have developed over time. Our skilled technicians employ various methods such as sandblasting or wire brushing to effectively eliminate the rust and prepare the metal surface for further treatment. Once the rust is removed, the technicians focus on smoothing out the metal. They carefully inspect the frame for any dents, scratches, or imperfections and use specialised tools and techniques to restore the smoothness of the surface. This may involve using fillers or welding to repair damaged areas. After ensuring the frame is structurally sound, we move on to the final step of repainting. They apply a high-quality paint or protective coating that is suitable for the specific transport frame. This not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the frame but also provides an added layer of protection against future corrosion.

Other Bespoke Projects by Masterhitch
We take pride in their ability to offer bespoke services and undertake unique projects tailored to the specific needs and requirements of their clients. Here are some more examples of bespoke projects carried out by the team:
Volkerfitzpatrick Extended Fork Carriages:
Volkerfitzpatrick approached us as their fork carriage supply was not wide enough to pick up the containers originally. Our team created fork extensions to ensure the containers were supported properly. The fork carriages created weighed in at 1000kg. Additionally, we also created a set of fork extensions to complete the Falklands project.
Ebbsfleet Kimberly Clark Cylinder Removal:
We created the transport frame for an 80 ton cylinder. Once all of the cylinders had been lowered into the transport frames they were winched outside onto the other steelwork we made so they can be lifted by a 500 ton crane and loaded onto a lorry for transport to where they were cut up.
